Founded in 2007, Natural Resources Management is a full-service geological and environmental consulting company providing services to the mining industry, site-development businesses, and private residential, commercial, and industrial entities while working with state and federal agencies.

NRM’s experienced team has more than 50 years of combined expertise providing environmental, mining, and construction services throughout North America. Our primary project area includes the midwestern US region and encompasses Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

Chip Tokar, CPG, is the General Manager for NRM. He received his bachelor’s and master of science degrees in Geology from Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio while holding part-time positions at the Ohio Geological Survey and the United States Geological Survey. Chip began his professional career as a staff geologist and an environmental consulting geologist in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1994 to 2000. In February 2000, Chip and his family returned to northwest Ohio, where he worked as Geological and Mining Administrator for the Stansley Group of companies. There, he completed countless environmental and conditional use permits, building materials production evaluations, created quality control and health & safety programs, and conducted all types of environmental investigations in sand & gravel and limestone quarries, ready-mix concrete, aggregate trucking, and block manufacturing operations. After the sale of those operations in 2006, and with support from the Stansley family, Chip began Natural Resources Management, LLC. NRM supports many clients as a full-service environmental and geological consulting firm.

Natural Resources Management, LLC is a member of the Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association and Michigan Aggregates Association. Chip is a Certified Professional Geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists and holds professional certifications in Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Chip is a Registered Member of SME and a Qualified Person with respect to the reporting of exploration results, mineral resources, and mineral reserves for aggregate and industrial mineral mining operations in accordance with 17 CFR Subpart 229.1300 – Disclosure by Registrants Engaged in Mining Operations (SEC Subpart 1300 S-K). Chip is a licensed remote pilot and is a Certified Mapping Scientist UAS with the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. He holds various certifications in surface water and stormwater testing and sediment and erosion control and extensive training and experience in environmental sampling, testing, and health & safety disciplines.

Chip has professional work experience in a broad range of scientific disciplines. He manages operations at NRM. He and his staff complete mineral deposit valuations, aerial photography, photographic mapping, geological exploration, hydrogeological investigations and evaluations, environmental site assessments & remediation, wastewater treatment & bioaugmentation, wetland consulting, governmental agency permitting, and site development. Chip has served as an expert witness for various projects in the mining and environmental disciplines.

KEVIN CORBIN

Kevin Corbin has been with NRM since 2017. Kevin graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science in 2016. Since his start at NRM, Kevin has focused his attention on delineating wetlands and other Waters of the State in Ohio and Michigan. Kevin is currently training to become a Certified Professional Wetland Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists. Kevin has several years of experience identifying and delineating wetland boundaries and has extensive knowledge of the OEPA & USACE Clean Water Act 401 & 404 Water Quality Certification permitting process in Ohio. He also has extensive experience with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Part 301 Inland Lakes & Streams and 303 Wetland Protection rules and regulations. Kevin has also gained knowledge and experience in several other professional areas during his tenure at NRM, including getting certified as a Small Unmanned Aircraft (sUAS) Remote Pilot and becoming proficient in the discipline of Photogrammetry.

Alyssa Grell has been with NRM since 2018. She graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s of science in Geology. Alyssa mainly works on local and state permitting, exploration sites, and environmental sampling and testing. She has experience completing valuations of mineral deposits, environmental site assessments & remediation, aerial surveys, and photogrammetric evaluations. She also has extensive knowledge of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), as well as the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA).

ROSS MELLGREN

Ross Mellgren has been working in the aggregate mining industry since 2007. He has served in various capacities of the quarry processing level, including health & safety, quality control, production, operations, and permitting. Ross graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in Geology in 2005.

Ross is a certified and licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) pilot specializing in aerial surveys and topographic and photogrammetric evaluations. He is experienced with CAD and has completed numerous Mining and Reclamation plans for clients. Ross also has experience with environmental permitting (i.e., NPDES, Stormwater, Air Quality, Conditional Use, Special Land Use) at the state and local government levels. Ross has completed hydrogeological investigations and subsurface drilling for aggregate reserve estimations and valuations. He is also familiar with creating Health & Safety training plans and has experience with both MSHA and OSHA. Ross has been working as a subcontractor for Natural Resources Management, LLC since 2015.
